The Chairman of Bahrain Bay Development Atif Abdulmalik, Board Director Hisham AlRaee, and Chief Executive Officer Gagan Suri welcomed His Excellency the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed and the Ports and Maritime Affairs team for a tour of Bahrain Bay, the development project being managed by Bahrain Bay Development B.S.C.

The visit came in line with the focus of the Ministry on providing support as a regulator to key development projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain, including those that cover recreational sea activities and water taxi services. The Ministry’s Ports and Maritime Affairs Directorate has so far licensed 17 companies offering those services, one of which is Delma Marine which operates three docks at the Bahrain Bay; the Four Seasons Hotel dock, the Avenues Mall dock and the Arcapita Building dock. All issued licenses follow the regulations set by the Ports and Maritime Affairs which aim to ensure the safety of passengers.

During the visit, His Excellency was updated on the developments at Bahrain Bay, specifically the new projects The Wharf and The Park.

At the beginning of the visit, the Minister and the guests were taken on a boat tour across the Four Seasons Bay organized by Delma Marine during which they were briefed on projects in Bahrain Bay overlooking the waterfront.  The Minister and the guests were then taken on a walking tour of The Park, which hosts retail outlets surrounded by landscaped gardens, a children play area and projects that are currently under construction.

On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister stated: “We are pleased to witness Bahrain Bay develop into one of Bahrain’s iconic waterfronts that serves as a major investment center which we look forward to seeing develop further as a major attraction site for investors, tourists and residents.  We as the Ministry of Transportations and Telecommunications will continue to extend our technical support, cooperation and expertise to this important facility and to contribute to its growth and sustainability as we are committed to ensuring that state-of-art transportation and telecommunications’ services continue to serve in attracting investments and boosting the growth of the Kingdom’s national economy.”

The tour was concluded with a visit to the newly built permanent offices of Bahrain Bay Development at North Wharf and then back again to the starting point.
