LAUNCH OF SIX NEW BUS ROUTES TO FURTHER ENHANCE THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT NETWORK

As part of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ commitment to enhancing the public transport services to residents and citizens, the Ministry announces that six new routes are now being operated by Bahrain Public Transport Company.

  • New destinations added that including Bahrain Bay, Sitra, Karbabad and Nabih Saleh, Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park, and Al Areen Wildlife

As part of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ commitment to enhancing the public transport services to residents and citizens, the Ministry announces that six new routes are now being operated by Bahrain Public Transport Company.

The upgraded network now features new connections and destinations including Bahrain Bay, Sitra, Karbabad, Nabih Saleh, the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park, and Al Areen Wildlife Park which have been added in response to citizens’, residents’, and the Municipal councils’ requests and following comprehensive studies that aim in delivering an accessible and efficient public transport system that is at par with global standards and is in line with the country’s Economic Vision 2030.

Commenting on this occasion, Her Excellency the Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport Affairs, Mrs Nada Yousif Abdulatif stated “The public bus network is one of the Ministry’s main strategic projects which aims to provide attractive and efficient alternatives to Bahrain’s transport demands. We are committed to continually upgrading the public transportation system in a sustainable manner to enhance the passenger experience.”

It is worth noting that the revamped public transport network was launched in 2015 and the past 12 months has seen a growth of 10%. Moreover, the Ministry is currently working on several developmental projects that aim to further improve the efficiency and quality of services provided.
