Ministry of Transportation Honours Civil Aviation Affairs Undersecretary Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaood

Under the patronage of His Excellency Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed the Minister of Transportation, an award ceremony was held on Thursday, 27th December 2012 to honour four long-serving executives including Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs Captain Abdul-Rahman Mohammed Al-Gaood, Director of Meteorology Mr. Yousif Khalaf, Chief of Operations at Meteorology Mr. Habib Al Aali, and Acting Chief of Climate and Operation at Meteorology, to mark their retirement.

During the ceremony, the Minister praised the executives on their significant achievements and dedicated efforts to develop and enhance the Civil Aviation sector at all levels, led by Captain Al Gaood.

In response to the Minister’s remark, Captain Al-Gaood expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the Minister and all Civil Aviation Affairs staff and stakeholders for their kind recognition of his long-standing service. He also said “I am very proud to have been a part of this dynamic team and be able to make key contributions to the development of this vital sector.”

Captain Al Gaood’s career started as one of the first pilot Bahraini pilots working at Gulf Air. With around 40 years’ experience in the aviation industry, Captain Al Gaood was appointed as Assistant Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation in 1996 and then promoted to Undersecretary in 2002, a position he held until his retirement.

At the end of the ceremony, the Minister presented the retirees with a memento in recognition of their services and sincere efforts and wished them further success. Attending the event were senior representatives of the civil aviation industry, including Bahrain Airport Company, Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), Gulf Air, BAFCO and DHL.
