Ministry of Transportation Participates in MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition

Her Excellency the Undersecretary of Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation Engineer Mariam Ahmed Jumaan

Her Excellency the Undersecretary of Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation Engineer Mariam Ahmed Jumaan headed a delegation as part of an official visit to attend the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition held in Dubai, UAE.

The Congress, which was hosted by Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority in partnership with the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) - the international organisation for public transport authorities and operators - focused on integrated public transport policies, usage of technology to encourage public transport ridership, exploring alternatives for financing sources, and public transport’s environmental influence on the impact and development of urban living.

The event included comprehensively themed panel sessions and roundtable discussions featuring notable industry leaders, decision-makers, legislators, developers and consultants to share the future insights and solutions for public transport regionally and internationally and also included an expo forum and exhibition activities.

During the congress, Her Excellency chaired a session titled “Transport Organising Authorities - Beginning to a Successfully Integrated City” which provided an overview on Transport Organising Authorities and their role within the modern Government according to establishment and structure as well as presentations and discussions from keynote speakers on the regulations and policies within the land transport sector and the importance of ensuring environmental sustainability when developing public transport design and infrastructure.

As a member of the UITP, the Ministry of Transportation aims to actively participate in transport related forums and collect and exchange knowledge, best practices, and benchmarks in order to develop and formulate sustainable policies and tackle challenges to meet the industry’s needs.
