Ports and Maritime Affairs regulate and license all of Bahrain’s private jetties, in addition to carrying out inspections to ensure compliance with relevant national laws, ministerial resolutions, international safety, security and environmental regu

Facilities

Industrial Private Jetties:
With over 30 licensed private jetties; Bahrain offers facilities required for businesses that rely on an accessible intermodal transportation network. Current private jetties in Bahrain serve a variety of industries including petrochemical, manufacturing, marine services, construction and shipping. These facilities are strategically located in Bahrain’s main industrial zones, including North Sitra Industrial Area, Mina Salman Industrial Area, Salman Industrial City and Ras-Zuwayad, thereby are perfectly located to serve different industries while being conveniently accessible to main transportation points providing smooth logistics and operations.

Passenger Transport Jetties:
The PMA is responsible for the licensing of all passenger transport jetties to ensure safety and security of  passengers and facilities at all times. These jetties are concentrated in main touristic locations such as Bahrain Bay, Amwaj Islands, Manama, Al Dar Islands, etc.

Licenses
Licenses for operating private jetties are issued by the PMA and are renewable every two years. To apply for a license, please click here.

Regulation
In 2017, PMA introduced new regulations to govern the use and operations of private jetties. All licensed companies are now operating under these PMA Licensing Resolution

Port Tariff

Inspections
As part of its regulatory function, PMA conducts regular inspections of all private jetties to ensure compliance with safety, security, environmental protection and other operational standards. To view the private jetty checklist please click here.
