MONTHLY WEATHER SUMMARY –NOVEMBER 2019

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Meteorological Directorate reported in their monthly weather summary that the month of November 2019 was warmer than normal in temperatures and above-average precipitation.

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Meteorological Directorate reported in their monthly weather summary that the month of  November 2019 was warmer than normal in temperatures and above-average precipitation.

The month was wet with 3 rainy days, accumulating 12.9 mm of precipitation at Bahrain International Airport and 3 times more than the long-term normal for November which is 3.8 mm. Note that the highest monthly rainfall ever recorded during November was 146.8 mm which occurred in November 1940.

The highest day with precipitation was 9.3 mm fell on the 18th November at Bahrain International Airport. Note that the highest daily rainfall ever recorded during November was 57.6 mm which occurred on 19th November 2000. Another amount of 1.1 mm fell on the 19th and 2.5 mm fell on the 25th November which made the total monthly amount of 12.9 mm. Trace amounts were also recorded on 9th and 17th November.

The total monthly precipitation recorded for November 2019 at King Fahd Causeway was 13.8 mm whereas the total precipitation at Durrat Al Bahrain was 11.0 mm, at Bahrain International Circuit was 6.0 mm and at Sitra Island was 4.2 mm.

Light rain was also reported in some areas on the 15th November.

The mean temperature of the month was 25.4°C which is 1.1°C above the long-term normal for November and this goes on record as the seventh-highest mean monthly temperatures for November since 1902. Note that the highest mean temperatures recorded in Bahrain for November was 26.1°C occurred in November 1954.

The mean maximum temperature of the month was 28.0°C which is 0.3°C above the long-term normal.

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 31.8°C which occurred on the 5th November at Bahrain International Airport but recorded 34.1°C on the same day at Bahrain International Circuit. 

The mean minimum temperature of the month was 22.5°C which is 1.3°C above the long-term normal and this also goes on record as the eighth highest mean minimum temperatures for the month of November since 1946. Note that the highest mean monthly minimum temperatures recorded in Bahrain for November was 23.4°C occurred in November 2017.

The lowest temperature recorded was 17.7°C set on the 21st November at Bahrain International Airport but recorded 15.4°C on the 20th November at Durrat Al Bahrain. 

The mean relative humidity for November was 56% whereas the mean maximum relative humidity was 70% and the mean minimum relative humidity was 43%.

The westerly to Northwesterly winds accounted 48% with gusts reaching 31 knots on the 21st November at Bahrain International Airport.
