The Ministry of Transportation is pleased to announce that tickets for the public area of the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) are now on sale.

The event, which includes an area open to the public, takes place from January 16 to 18 at the Sakhir Airbase. Tickets are available from all Batelco outlets, and offergreat value for money, priced at only BD 3 for children and BD 7 for adults.

BIAS 2014 is set to offer its public visitors a festival of fun including daily flying displays of up to 4 hours and a host of on-ground attractions, dining options and entertainment. Highlights will include a heritage handicrafts village, operated in conjunction with the Ministry of Social Development, a space zone exhibit run by the UK's National Space Centre, and interactive educational activities for all ages, including vertical wind tunnels and mad science workshops.

Confirmed display teams include the Hawks from Saudi Arabia, the UAE’s Al Fursan, the Russian Knights and the Breitling Wingwalkers, and the historic Spitfire fighter aircraft will also be making a special appearance. There will also be solo aerobatics from Mark Jefferies, the Red Devils parachute display team and the SWIP Twister display team with their amazing night-time display.

Courtesy of Qatar Airways, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner will also be making its first visit to the Kingdom, and military aircraft from Bahrain, France, the UK and the US will all perform displays.

His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al-Nemah, the Acting Undersecretary of MoT’s Civil Aviation Affairs, said, “We are really excited about the incredible line-up of attractions for the public at the upcoming Airshow in January. The public area has been expanded this year, with a terrific range of entertainment activities, and it offers the best place to view the stunning flying displays from. We look forward to announcing even more attractions as we get closer to the start of the event.”
