Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, received Liu Chun San, Undersecretary for Transport and Logistics from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Representatives of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai, and Oscar Chow, Honorary Consul of Bahrain to Hong Kong, attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed expanding economic and investment ties between Bahrain and Hong Kong, particularly in land, air, and maritime transportation.
The minister highlighted aspirations to strengthen Bahrain’s position as a strategic hub for world-class, sustainable logistics services. He also underscored the importance of leveraging expertise and advanced technologies to enhance competitiveness and align with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.
The meeting discussed opportunities to develop human capital, modernise infrastructure, and elevate logistics services across the transportation sector.
Liu Chun San expressed his appreciation for Bahrain’s efforts to foster collaboration with Hong Kong, particularly in integrating innovative technologies and smart systems to advance transportation and logistics.
He conveyed his optimism for Bahrain’s continued growth and development.
The visit concluded with a field tour and meetings with representatives from the Economic Development Board, DHL Logistics, and APM Terminals Bahrain, which operates Khalifa Bin Salman Port.
The delegation reviewed key operational processes, investment opportunities, and initiatives driving the logistics sector’s growth in Bahrain.
