HE Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post chaired the 28th extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Transport Undersecretaries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, which was held via video conference with the participation of representatives of member states.
The meeting discussed a number of exceptional measures related to the land transport sector in GCC countries in light of the Iranian attacks, aimed at ensuring the continuity and efficiency of passenger and freight land transport movement between member states.
Participants also discussed mechanisms to facilitate land transport movement, including allowing the passage of empty trucks and buses, in addition to reviewing certain exemptions related to the operational age of vehicles, as part of joint efforts to enhance the smooth flow of transport and mitigate challenges that may affect the sector.
The committee emphasised the importance of continued coordination among member states to implement the necessary exceptional measures in a way that supports the land transport system and enhances integration among GCC countries.
