The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has observed that unlicensed trucks are transporting goods across the King Fahd Causeway. These trucks belong to companies and establishments that do not have the appropriate license for this activity, "international transport of goods" and their trucks are registered with orange license plate numbers.

In accordance with the Ministry's directives to develop and regulate the activities of the land transport sector, including the activity of "international transport of goods", these companies have to apply for the issuance of the "international transport of goods" license and to change all the trucks registered with orange license plate numbers to yellow license plate numbers..

Effective 1st August 2018, all companies without the appropriate license will be prevented from crossing the Causeway to reduce the illegal violations practiced by the companies and individual establishments, in accordance with the procedures of the Ministry of Transportations and Telecommunications.

Representatives from the Land Transportation Monitoring & Enforcement Directorate are on site at the King Fahd Causeway to assist truck drivers with the new regulations and are working closely with representatives from Customs Affairs to implement the new regulation once it comes into force this week.

The regulations are coming into force following several months of joint meetings with all relevant stakeholders to discuss and agree the optimal method of implementation.  Stakeholders involved in the process include Customs Affairs Directorate and the Bahrain Chamber for Commerce and Industry as well as representatives from the Sector.

Questions regarding the new regulations can be directed to the Land Transportation Monitoring & Enforcement Directorate and to the Land Transportation Regulation Directorate at 17-337874.
