As part of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ (MTT) goals on upgrading and modernizing the Kingdom’s public transport system and enhancing its service facilities and supporting infrastructure across this sector.

As part of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ (MTT) goals on upgrading and modernizing the Kingdom’s public transport system and enhancing its service facilities and supporting infrastructure across this sector. As part of this enhancement, the bus stops have been developed with new bus shelters and poles.to date, there are 644 operated layby and 72 on-street stops, with 290 bus shelters including 35 AC shelters.

The Sector is also working on improving the bus shelters design to reflect Bahrain identity and developing Salmaniya bus interchange to provide dedicated and developed places for public transportation users to contribute to raising the efficiency of services provided to the public transportation users in the kingdom.

The Ministry has also introduced taxi pylons in 21 taxi stops as a first step to develop the taxi stops in various parts of Kingdom of Bahrain.

In regard to the infrastructure for bicycles, The Ministry built dedicated cycle lanes in coordination with the relevant stakeholders in the 9 existing across Bahrain’s governorates.
