Bahrain Ministry of Transportation Telecommunications and Saudi Transportation Ministry Hold Workshop on Railway Legislation

Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, chaired a remote joint workshop organised by the ministry to discuss legislation related to the railway sector. The workshop brought together specialists from Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services of Saudi Arabia and the GCC Railway Authority.

The workshop reviewed Saudi Arabia’s experience in railway legislation and regulations, and best practices, supporting Bahrain’s efforts to develop relevant frameworks and enhance readiness for strategic projects in this sector.

Al Dhaen noted the historical ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and highlighted the strategic importance of the GCC railway project as a key initiative supporting economic and development connectivity among GCC countries. She added that GCC countries have made tangible progress in implementing the project, reaching advanced stages across several routes, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening the regional transport system, enhancing its efficiency and sustainability, and supporting trade while facilitating the movement of individuals and goods.

The workshop is part of Bahrain’s efforts to enhance regional cooperation and exchange expertise, supporting integration in infrastructure projects and advancing a modern and sustainable transport sector aligned with economic development goals.
