Within the ongoing cooperation framework between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) Ports and Maritime Affairs hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Transportation and Communication, Sultanate of Oman.

The visit was to enable the Omani delegation to learn about the MTT’s Ships and Seamen Affairs Directorate’s activities as well as the recently launched Ship Registry Portal, one of MTT most important projects in the maritime sector.

The Ship Registry Portal is an electronic gate to register vessels, launched by MTT Ports and Maritime Affairs at the end of 2014. This system enables vessel owners worldwide to register their vessels in the Kingdom of Bahrain together with providing a number of electronic vessel registration services in an easy and convenient process. The system is also able to send the latest developments to Ports and Maritime Affairs customers by SMS or e-mails. It also has a complete financial system that sends invoices and enables online payments.

Ways of further boosting cooperation between the two countries in the maritime sector were also discussed, in addition to reviewing and further developing a working mechanism between the two directorates.

At the conclusion of the visit, the visiting delegation praised the automated Ship Registry Portal in the Kingdom of Bahrain, thanking MTT for continued cooperation.
