The Ministry of Transportation’s Meteorological Directorate had reported in their monthly weather summary that the month of November 2014 was the same as long-term normal in temperatures with below average relative humidities and wind speed as well as above average rainfall.

The mean temperature of the month was 24.3°C. This was the same as the long-term normal for the month of November. The mean maximum temperature of the month was 27.1°C.

The highest temperature recorded in the month was 34.0°C which was on the 4th November due to a warm southerly winds which dominated during that morning.

During the month, Bahrain had 4 days with maximum temperatures above 30°C.

The mean minimum temperature of the month was 21.6°C. The lowest temperature recorded was 16.2°C which was on the 30th of November.

The mean relative humidity for November was 52%. This goes on record as the lowest mean monthly relative humidity for November since 1955. The old record was 58% in November 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The mean maximum relative humidity for the month was 67%. This goes on record as the lowest mean monthly maximum relative humidity for November since 1955. The old record was 72% in November 2009, 2011 and 2012.

The mean minimum relative humidity for the month was 37%. This goes on record as the lowest mean monthly minimum relative humidity for November since 1955. The old record was 40% in November 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The month was wet with 4 rainy days accumulating 15.9 mm. Trace amount were recorded on the 17th, 18th and 25th of November. Note that the long-term mean total precipitation for November is 3.8 mm. The highest monthly rainfall ever recorded for November was 146.8 mm which occurred in November 1940.

The highest day with precipitation was 9.5 mm fell on the 28th November. An additional of 3.8 mm fell on the 23rd, 0.6 mm fell on the 24th, and 2.0 mm fell on the 30th of November to make the total amount 15.9 mm.

Thunderstorms were reported at the airport on the 28th of November, the visibility dropped to 4000 meters due to Thundery showers which produced 9.5 mm with gusts to 38 knots at the airport. The intensity of rain was 0.43 mm/min from 12:38 LT to 12:50 LT with highest of 1.1 mm/min at 12:40 LT.

The month had a new record for the lowest station pressure for November which was 1007.6 hpa set on the 1st November 2014. The old record was 1007.8 hpa which was recorded on the 11th of November 2009.

Northwesterly winds accounted 56% of the observation with maximum wind speed reached 27 knots and gust reached 38 knots on the 28th of November at the airport.

Dust haze affected the Kingdom on the 4th of November which reduced visibility to 1500 meters at the airport.
