That September 2016 goes on record as the third hottest September ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902.

The mean temperature of the month was 33.9°C. This is 1.5°C above the long-term normal. This goes on record as the third highest mean monthly temperature for September. This is same as September 2014 and exceeded by September 1998 & 2015 which was 34.5°C and September 2010 which was 34.3°C.

The mean maximum temperature of the month was 37.7°C. This goes on record as the seventh highest mean maximum temperatures for September since 1946 and exceeded by September 2015 which was 38.8°C, September 2001 and 2008 which was 38.7°C, September 1998 and 2007 which was 38.5°C, September 2010 which was 38.3°C, September 1999, 2006 and 2011 which was 37.9°C and September 2014 which was 37.8°C.  

The highest temperature recorded in the month was 45.3°C set on the 2nd September at Bahrain International Airport. This goes on record as the second highest temperature for September at Bahrain International Airport since 1946 and only exceeded by 4th September 2013 which was 45.5°C.

During the month Bahrain had 4 days with maximum temperature exceeded 40°C. 

The mean minimum temperature of the month was 30.9°C. This goes on record as the third highest mean minimum temperature for September since 1946 and exceeded by September 2015 which was 31.5°C and September 2010 which was 31.0°C.

The lowest temperature recorded was 28.0°C set on the 27th and 30th September at Bahrain International Airport. But recorded 24.5°C on the 30th September at Durrat Al Bahrain.

The mean relative humidity for September was 55%. The mean maximum relative humidity for the month was 72%. The mean minimum relative humidity for September was 35%.

September 2016 was the second sunniest month for all September’s since the sunshine records began in 1968. The total hour of sunshine for the month was 336.0 hours and only exceeded by September 2014 which was 339.8 hours.

The prevailing wind was 37% from Northwest direction with gusts reached 30 knots on the 7th September at the Bahrain International Airport. But recorded 31 knots on the same day at Durrat Al Bahrain.

Haze reported on the 3rd September. Visibility dropped to 2000 meters at Bahrain International Airport.
