Transportation Ministry launches electronic services for aircraft maintenance certificates

08 February 2026

As part of government efforts to enhance service quality and reengineer procedures, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications launched electronic services for the issuance, renewal and amendment of aircraft maintenance certificates. The service aims to verify the compliance of relevant entities with civil aviation requirements and approved standards, ensuring the safety and efficiency of aircraft maintenance operations.

Under these services, the processing time for aircraft maintenance certificates has been significantly reduced. The issuance period has been cut from 60 working days to 20 days, renewal from 30 days to 12 days, and amendments from 30 days to 15 days, while maintaining technical review requirements and the submission of supporting documents in accordance with approved procedures. The number of steps has also been reduced compared with the previous mechanism, which relied on in-person attendance or email correspondence.

Hussain Ahmed Al Shuail, Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, said that the launch of these digital services reflects the ministry’s adoption of innovative solutions that enhance procedural efficiency and reduce time and effort for relevant entities, while maintaining safety requirements and approved standards, thereby strengthening the effectiveness of the work system.

He explained that the services enable the submission of applications for the issuance, renewal and amendment of aircraft maintenance certificates through the electronic licensing system, supporting the safety and efficiency of aircraft maintenance operations and keeping pace with the operational requirements of this vital sector.

As part of ongoing government efforts to develop and re-engineer government services, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with around 800 services undergoing development and re-engineering across various government sectors.

This is based on proposals and feedback received regarding government services through the National System for Suggestions and Complaints, Tawasul, investor feedback, and secret shopper reports evaluating government services, as well as the launch of guidance manuals and service level agreements.

These efforts contribute to improving procedural efficiency, enhancing service quality, strengthening beneficiary experience, and supporting the government’s digital transformation journey.
